MILFORD – The Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division was dispatched to the area of Causey Avenue and Church Street in reference to a suspicious person April 15 at approximately 12:27 p.m.
Units were advised that it was Dustin Townsend and that he was wanted. Units responded to the area and located 24-year-old Townsend of Millsboro sitting on a bench in front of the Milford Post Office. Officers confirmed that Townsend was wanted on capiases out of Sussex County Family Court, Sussex County Superior Court and Kent Count Court of Common Pleas.
During a search of his person, 44 baggies of suspected heroin (packaged for sale) were located on his person along with a handgun magazine with nine rounds of .22 caliber ammunition. Due to Townsend’s criminal history, he is prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition.
Townsend was taken into custody on the heroin, ammunition and capiases. He was charged with possession of ammunition by a person prohibited and manufacturing, delivering or possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance with an aggravating factor.
He was arraigned on the new charges and capiases through Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $7,565 secured bail. He was given future court dates in Sussex County Family Court, Sussex County Superior Court, Kent County Court of Common Pleas and Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
