Vida™ Multicultural Screening/Health Fair coming to Milford April 22

MILFORD — The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) recently announced the next ¡VIDA!™ Multicultural Screening and Health Fair will take place at the Milford Community Center Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This trilingual program will be free and offer health screenings, information about healthy living, community programs, free clothing and lunch and additional resources to the public. The program is made possible by support from Bayhealth, the Milford Multicultural Church and Community Center, Perdue, The Carpenter Foundation, The Chichester Dupont Foundation, Highmark Delaware, and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.

¡VIDA!™ is a multicultural event focused on breast cancer screening, treatment, and survivorship. It began in 2011 as a bilingual (Spanish/English) educational event that has grown to include all backgrounds and ethnicities, and offers programs to women, men, and children. The Milford forum will feature clinical breast exams on-site and additional health screenings such as glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure. Lunch will be provided, along with free clothing giveaways. Families are welcome.

Migdalia Garduno, bilingual outreach and screening coordinator said, “The April 22 ¡VIDA!™ in Milford is vitally important to members of our community. These free medical tests can be lifesaving to someone who is never or rarely screened. We will have volunteers on site to help translate medical results in Spanish and Creole.”

The Milford Community Center is located on 105 N.E. Front St. in Milford. The next ¡VIDA!™ forum will be held July 8 in Seaford. Contact Migdalia Garduno at 302-778-1102, ext. 1016 for additional information.
