Friday, May 20

MaRT Classic Movie Night “The House on Telegraph Hill”: 7 p.m., Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford. A suspenseful film noir set in San Francisco (Richard Basehart, Valentina Cortese & William Lundigan). Presented by the Milford Second Street Players $5 Movies at Riverfront Theater – Spanish Soundtrack. Call Suzanne M. Murphy at 718-938-5726. Chicken Barbecue: 10 a.m. until sold out, Milford Elks Lodge #2401. 18951 Elks Lodge Road, Milford. $7.00 for half chicken, roll, pickle and chips. Drive up and pick-up.

 

Saturday, May 21

The Roaring 20’s Lawn Party and Juice Joint Crawl: 5-9 p.m., Causey Mansion, 2 Causey Ave., Milford. Followed by a bar crawl. Hosted by Milford Historical Preservation Group. Guests will enjoy the music of a Roaring 20s band, “sneak” tastes of prohibited drinks, and enjoy great food as they step back in time to the days of the Charleston, speakeasies and gangsters. Seventh annual Peace, Love & Horseshoe Crab Festival: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., DuPont Nature Center, 2992 Lighthouse Road, east of Milford.  Celebrating the spring spectacle of migrating shorebirds and spawning horseshoe crabs. Annual Customer Appreciation Strawberry Social: 10 a.m., Riverwalk Farmers Market, downtown Milford. Free strawberry shortcake for the first 300 people.

Donate for Happiness: 5-9 p.m., Avenue United Methodist Church, Milford. The event features live music, but it’s main purpose is to gather as many donated items as possible. So anyone donating anything – from clothes, to blankets, to jackets, to bedding, to non-perishable food – will get free entry. Otherwise, it costs $3 per person. All items and all money collected at the event will be donated to Milford area charities. Sunday, May 22

Delmarva Antique Bottle Club Show: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ellendale Fire Hall, 302 Main St., Ellendale. Admission $2, children under 12 with a parent are free. About 40 dealers the east coast will be selling old bottles, jars, insulators, stoneware, table-top antiques, and advertising items. Most of the categories of bottle collecting will be represented: milks, beer, soda, inks, food jars, poisons, figural, medicine and historical flasks. There will be a educational display created by DABC members showing various collectibles associated with bottle/insulator collecting.

 

Wednesday, May 25

Ballroom practice session – Samba and Foxtrot practice: 7-8 p.m., various music and dance 8-8:30 p.m., Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge, 760 Moose Lodge Road (off Del. 15) near Wyoming. Experienced dancers will be on hand. Admission is $3 per person paid at the door.

 

Friday, May 27

PubCRAWL starting off the Buccaneer Bash: 6-10 p.m., Clifton Cubbage Dr., Bowers Beach. Music by Tony Windsor. Bring your own chairs. Free admission.

 

Saturday, May 28

Buccaneer Bash in Bowers Beach … Museumopen: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Bowers Beach. Parade down Main St. at noon. Costume contest, “Grinchspeare,” “Wally” from DelDOT, “Pete the Pirate,” “Pirates of Fortunes Folly Show.” Food, crafters, reenactments, cannons, swordfights, and live music by The Brigands.

Breakfast at the Bowers Fire Hall: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Bowers Beach.

2016 Delaware Teen Idol Auditions: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Milford Boys & Girls Club, 101 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford. Friday, June 3

It’s 6 O’Clock Somewhere: 6 p.m., Sunset Cove, 3 Haven Lake Ave., Milford. This outdoor event will benefit Home of the Brave 2 and the construction of their new facility. Rain date June 4. The evening includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails (3 alcoholic, unlimited non-alcoholic included with ticket), live entertainment, a small silent auction, 50/50 and door prizes. Thursday, June 9

Free clinical breast exams: 5-7 p.m., Bayhealth Cancer Center, Milford Memorial, Milford. A clinical breast exam is a physical examination done by a healthcare practitioner trained to notice abnormalities in the breast tissue. Nurse Practitioner Sandy Voss, FNP-C, of Bayhealth Hematology/Oncology Associates will donate her time to provide these services.
