Two months left before Lions car raffle drawing

This is the 27th year for the Milford Lions Club Car Raffle. We have just two months left before the drawing. The drawing is December 26 at 8 p.m. at the Dover Mall food court area. The prizes this year are a 2015 Equinox LS or $20,000 and 10 individual $500 cash prizes. We draw 11 tickets, the first is for the car or $20,000 and the next 10 are for the $500 cash prizes. As soon as the winners have been contacted, we will post a list of winners on our website, www.milfordlions22d.com.

Our members have been busy selling tickets at Grotto’s, Royal Farms, Walgreens, Redner’s and other locations in Milford. We would like to thank these businesses for allowing the Milford Lions Club to sell tickets at their business locations. We were at the Bug & Bug Festival, Dover Days, Wheels and Wings and the Elks and KSI car shows and most recently at the St. John’s Oktoberfest. The money raised from this project is used for community improvement projects, youth programs, eye exams, glasses, scholarships and to help needy people in our communities.

The Car Raffle was started in 1988 and continues to be our major fundraiser. After the first couple years, we extended the offered to all the Lion Clubs in the Multiple District 22. The Milford Lions Club manages the project, purchases the vehicle, and supplies the tickets and cash prizes. The Multiple District 22 Lion Clubs that help us to sell tickets keep half of the money they raise to use for their community projects.

We would like to thank all the Multiple District 22 Lion Clubs that are helping us with this project, but most of all, we want to thank all the people in the different communities that help by purchasing the raffle tickets, and the business in these communities that allow the Lions Clubs to sell tickets at their locations. Good luck and we hope you are our next winner.

We sincerely want to thank the Delmarva Chevy Dealers and i.g. Burton of Milford. This is the third year that the Delmarva Chevy Dealers have paid for the tickets and advertising signs. This year the car was purchased from i.g. Burton of Milford. They made a donation that will cover most of the cost of the event booth spaces.
