Strickland to chair campaign for new Bayhealth Milford

Strickland and MurphyMILFORD – At the Bayhealth, Inc. Board meeting on June 1, Terry Murphy, FACHE, president and CEO of Bayhealth announced that board member Bill Strickland will serve as chair of the Campaign for Bayhealth – Phase III.

The Campaign for Bayhealth – Phase III is a capital fundraising campaign that will primarily support the new health campus in Milford. The health campus is slated to open in 2018 and will redefine health care in southern Delaware.

Bill Strickland, president of L&W Insurance in Dover, has been involved with Bayhealth for many years. He is a member of the Bayhealth, Inc. Board of Directors and has served on many successful fundraising campaigns.

“I can think of no better person to lead this effort,” said Mr. Murphy. He thanked Strickland for taking on the new role, and said, “Bill [Strickland] has had a great impact on Bayhealth. The support he has helped us raise through the years allows us to provide great patient care.”

Chair of the Bayhealth, Inc. Board of Directors John Paradee, Esq. said, “Bill was selected to serve as chair for this campaign because he has repeatedly demonstrated an abiding commitment to the cause, he has the energy and enthusiasm the task demands, and he has proven wildly successful in achieving outstanding results for the organization in the past.”

Bayhealth Board of Directors member Bobby Fischer has known Mr. Strickland nearly all his life. “I’ve known Bill since 1971,” he said. “The hospital and the Milford community were always part of the Strickland family. He’s a Milford boy all the way through. He’s maintained good relationships with folks and he’s well respected.”

President of the Bayhealth Foundation Dr. Lindsay Rhodenbaugh said, “This is the most significant philanthropic campaign in the history of Bayhealth. The citizens of Milford are eager to see this new health campus rise from the fields near Route 1.  We’re grateful for their patience and support.”

Dr. Rhodenbaugh and his team worked with Mr. Strickland on the previous campaign with great success. He said, “If Bill says he’ll do something, he’ll get it done. He’s perfect for this role because he is a successful, honest businessman with great credibility.”

Pleased with his new role, Mr. Strickland said, “I’m excited about the new health campus in Milford. This is a game changer, both in terms of building a world class heath care facility and because it will be important – economically – for Milford.”

“This campaign is an investment opportunity,” said Mr. Strickland. “It’s an investment in the health care that will be delivered to you and your family and loved ones. In the end, residents of Milford are going to need the services provided by Bayhealth.”

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to give back to Milford, a community that’s given me so much,” said Mr. Strickland.
