Community event to honor spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr

The Milford community is invited to a celebration at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School on Monday, Jan. 18 at noon to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Co-sponsored by the Milford Area Ministerial Association and the Milford Interdenominational Ministers Alliance, the event will include music, liturgical dance, a mime and the viewing of King’s “I have a dream” speech.

About a dozen churches in the area and local officials will participate in this annual event.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community here in Milford together and continue building a spirit of inclusivity,” Tom Pasmore, chairman of the Milford Area Ministerial Association and senior pastor of Avenue United Methodist Church.

“In a world hurting because of racial divide and violence, this event will help God move and bless the community.”

The doors will open at 11 a.m. Momentum, the youth praise team from Avenue United Methodist Church, will share their ministry. A youth speaker will bring the message.
