Senator Coons Visits Delaware Hospice in Milford

MILFORD, Del. – State Senator Chris Coons met with Delaware Hospice staff members to discuss healthcare reforms and the impact on Delawareans  at the Milford facility.

As a leader in end-of-life healthcare in Delaware, Delaware Hospice President and CEO Susan Lloyd, BSN, RN, invited Senator Coons to discuss healthcare reform at the federal level.

“Senator Coons’ support for healthcare initiatives at the federal level is reassuring that our community will continue to receive the highest quality healthcare services,” Ms. Lloyd said. “The conversation with Senator Coons was positive and we look forward to many more.”

Senator Coons added, “Knowing firsthand the impact Delaware Hospice can have on a loved one’s life, I understand the importance of these types of conversations we had today. I encourage others to talk with their loved ones about their healthcare options.”

He welcomed the invitation to meet and tour the Delaware Hospice Milford Center, a stand alone 24-hour specialized hospice care facility in the state. Hospice patients and their families who require short-term stays for caregiver education, respite care, transition from hospital to home, or pain and symptom management receive services by the expert care of Delaware Hospice staff members.

The Milford Center offers 16 private, patient-family suites that are set in a comfortable, peaceful home-like atmosphere. Visitors are encouraged to use family oriented spaces including the country kitchen, living room, family room, and a children’s playroom. Families may also enjoy a stroll through the beautifully landscaped gardens of the Center.
