Arrests in Milford after police find drugs, stolen ammunition

MILFORD – The Milford Police Department seized more than 1,200 rounds of stolen .223 rifle ammunition and several bags of heroin and marijuana Saturday night and arrested two Milford residents.

At about 7:30 p.m., the Milford Police Drugs, Vice and Organized Crime Unit along with the Milford Police Criminal Division executed a search warrant at a residence located at the double digit block S. Walnut St., at Norman Apartments. Detectives seized the drugs, stolen ammunition and other stolen property related to a recent burglary that occurred on May 8.

Detectives arrested and charged Jimmy F. Artis, 28 of Milford, with burglary in the third degree, theft of $1,500 or greater and possession of burglar tools stemming from the May 8 burglary at a residence located in the 100 block of McColley St. Artis was also charged with possession of heroin within 300 feet of a park, possession of marijuana within 300 feet of a park and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives also arrested and charged Deborah D. Crump, 27 of Milford, with possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal impersonation. While at the residence, Crump provided officers with a false name and presented a false identification card.

Both Crump and Artis were also wanted on an active capias out of Sussex County Court of Common Pleas. Artis was arraigned and was released on $9,400.00 unsecured bond. Crump was arraigned and committed to WCI in default of $701.00 cash bond.
