Girls Night Out in Milford celebrates fifth anniversary

MILFORD — If you don’t have plans for Friday May 6, and you’d like to help support the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and the CCGM, and have a Marvelous time, you’ll want to get a ticket for the 5th Annual Girls Night Out event.

Marvelous MenIn the five years this event has taken place, it’s had to move twice to accommodate all the attendees. Girls Night Out takes place at the Harrington Raceway & Casino from 6:30-10 p.m. and is always a night to remember.

The cost to attend is only $30 per person, and the ticket cost includes a complimentary keepsake photo from C.M. Baker Photography, plenty of food from chamber members including Bones Restaurant in the Harrington Raceway & Casino, Mr. Bar-B- Que, Delmarva Popcorn & Nut Company, the Milford Diner, and others not yet confirmed.

DJ Dana McDonald, from Cool 101.3’s Morning Show, will be playing dance music and acting as the event Emcee. In addition to dancing, there will be a Cupcake Contest, sponsored by the Milford Walmart and a few games.

A Signature Cocktail will be offered with a portion of the proceeds going to the DBCC.

Someone will win a weekend getaway to the beautiful new Fairfield Inn and Suites in Rehoboth if they purchase a Girls Night Out Weekend Getaway Raffle Ticket.

The games, the music and the contests are all fun, however the real reason this event is so popular is due to the Marvelous Men, and the Marvelous Mascots, of Milford. This year there are 10 Marvelous Men, sponsored by i.g. Burton, the Dover Federal Credit Union, Techno Goober, Louis Feverin Allstate Insurance, Solar City, M& T Bank, First State Manufacturing, the Milford School District and WSFS.

These men will act as models, and will then be auctioned off for a group dance. Prior to the event, they are selling event tickets, sponsorships, raffle tickets and obtaining donations for their Marvelous Man Campaign. Whoever raises the most money will join Marvelous Man Alumni, Pete Renzi, Dr. Mike Meyer and Frank Payton and will be crowned the 2016 Marvelous Man of Milford.

Four Marvelous Mascots are confirmed, sponsored by Del One Federal Credit Union, the Milford School District and Aarons Furniture. The Marvelous Mascots will also compete, however their competition will take place only at the event. The crowd will choose which mascot will win.

There are a few tickets left, and if you get nine of your friends to attend, you can reserve a table. This is a very fun event, where “girls” can get out for the evening while helping two great nonprofit organizations.

There are still sponsorship opportunities available, so if you are interested in purchasing tickets, would like to be a sponsor, or are interested in learning more about this event, contact the chamber at 422-3344 or milford@milfordchamber.com.
