Houston man arrested for pair of robberies

HOUSTON – State Police Detectives in Kent and Sussex Counties have arrested a Houston man after he committed a second robbery within 12 hours.Suspect

The first incident occurred around 2:29 a.m. this morning, June 1, when a male suspect entered the Canterbury Shore Stop located at 8953 South DuPont Highway.

He approached the male employee at the counter with a dark colored jacket draped over his arm and demanded cash.  The clerk complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of currency.  The male then fled the business and entered a tan or gold pickup truck and drove east on Irish Hill Road.  The male employee was uninjured in this incident.

The second robbery occurred around 10:35 a.m. today, June 1, when a male entered the Concord Liquor Store located at 10680 Concord Road in Seaford and approached a female employee at the counter with a dark colored jacket draped over his arm and demanded cash.

This clerk also complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash before the subject fled the business in a small pickup truck driving west towards Coverdale Crossroads.  The female employee was uninjured in this incident.

Susp VehicleIn both cases, the suspect was described as a white male, 5’05”-5’07” tall, wearing a light blue baseball hat, white shirt, khaki shorts, black sneakers and was possibly armed with an unknown type weapon concealed under a black jacket.  He was also described as driving a tan, rust, or gold in color Chevrolet S10 pickup truck with unknown registration.

A trooper on patrol in the Coverdale Crossroads area observed a vehicle matching that description and performed a traffic stop.

The operator, Jason T. McBroom, 32 of Houston, Del., matched the identifying characteristics of both descriptions given and was taken into custody without incident before being transported back to Troop 4 in Georgetown.  He was subsequently charged with two counts of Robbery 1st and after being arraigned at JP2 he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $100,000.00 secured bond.
