Lions car raffle set to begin

Lions-Club-LogoThe Milford Lions Club is starting its biggest fundraiser, the Car Raffle. This is the 27th year for this project. We will be at the Bug & Bug Festival and then at the Dover Days Festival in Dover. You will see our members selling tickets at Grotto’s, Royal Farms, Walgreens, Redner’s Market and Ace Hardware.

The Car Raffle was started in 1988 and continues to be our major fundraiser. After the first couple years, we extended the offered to the Lion Clubs in the Multiple District 22. The Milford Lions Club manages the project, obtains the gaming permit, purchases the vehicle, and provides the cash prizes. This is the third year that the Delmarva Chevy Dealers have donated the tickets and advertising signs and this year I. G Burton has made a donation that will cover most of the cost for the many event spaces.

The money we raise from this project is used for community improvement projects, youth programs, eye exams, glasses, scholarships and to help needy people in our communities. The Lion Clubs in District 22 that help sell tickets get to keep half of the money they raise to use for their community projects.

During the years we have raffled SUV, trucks, cars and several different cash prizes. The prizes this year are 2015 Equinox LS or $20,000 and 10 individual $500 cash prizes. The drawing is December 26 at 8:00 p.m. at the Dover Mall food court area.

We would like to thank the Multiple District 22 Lion Clubs that are helping us with this project, The Delmarva Chevy Dealers, I. G. Burton and all the business that allow the Lions to sell tickets at their business locations. Most of all, we want to thank all the people in the different communities that help by purchasing the raffle tickets. Good luck and we hope you are our next winner.
