Memorial Day ceremony planned in Milford

MILFORD – The annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held May 30 at 10 am at the Milford Senior Center, according to city officials.

The ceremony will honor the men and women that sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom. Branches of the United States military will be honored with a wreath presentation and armed forces tribute by family members of the deceased. Members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Air Force will be asked to stand to be honored for their service.

The American Legion Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6483 and the Milford Community Band will start an early playing of upbeat music before the official start of the program. The Bayside4 accapala singing group, a certified Sweet Adelines group, will lead the attendees in the national anthem, the Battle Hymn of the Republic, This is my County and God Bless America.

A ceremonial 21 gun salute and Taps will close out the ceremony.
