Milford Drama Club presents ‘School of Rock: The Musical’

MILFORD — You just can’t stop the School of Rock, and now it’s your chance to rock out with Milford High School and Milford Central Academy students in “School of Rock: The Musical” during the first weekend of March.

This hilarious musical follows Dewey, a failed rock musician posing as a substitute teacher, as he tries to turn a group of straight-A students into a rock band capable of winning the Battle of the Bands.

The musical is based on the hit movie starring Jack Black, and it has additional songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Director Carissa Meiklejohn says, “This show is so much fun!  I can’t sit still in my seat.”

Audience members of all ages are sure to feel the same way.

This production has provided a unique opportunity for Milford students to show off their wide range of skills. In addition to acting, singing and dancing, five talented students — Destiny Carmona, Sebastian Cortez, Melina Hudson, Owen McDonald, and Dylan Phillips — play instruments live on stage.

Other student performers from Milford High School include Jocelyn Argo, Briana Bailey, Alina Bashkirova, Tobias Biro, Brooke Bunting, Amire Collins, Millisen Dill, Lauren Edwards, Jacob Elliot, Jesus Gomez, Abby Lincoln, Christian Keesler-Evans, Mya McFarland, Kylie Morrill, Hadley O’Day, Mystery Parsons-Villa, Ash Pierce, Lizzy Pierce, Layna Reynolds, Sam Sileno, Tristan Slonacher, Madison Stalvey, Ireland Stump, Teana Sturgis, Sienna Tamburo, Haley Thompson, Jace Thompson, Paige Thompson, Isabella Tyrell, Gabe White, Julie White, Rebecca Wisniewski and Natalie Zelano.

Performances will be held in the MHS auditorium Thursday, March 1; Friday, March 2; and Saturday, March 3.

All three evening shows will begin at 7 p.m.  There will also be an afternoon matinee Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door. $5 for students age 18 or younger; $6 for seniors 60 or older; $8 for all others.

A $1 discount will be given to those who bring a ticket stub from the Lions Club spaghetti dinner (4:00-7:00 on Saturday, March 3 in the MHS cafeteria).
