Milford Medical Associates welcomed by local Bayhealth Medical Group

MILFORD — Bayhealth is pleased to announce that primary care physicians Mitch Edmondson, MD, and Loretta Edmondson, MD, along with physician assistant Meghan Andrews, P.A.-C will become part of  Bayhealth Medical Group on Jan. 1, 2018.

Bayhealth Medical Group is comprised of more than 60 physicians and other healthcare professionals and continues to grow to meet the needs of patients in central and southern Delaware. The medical group includes primary care physicians as well as specialists in cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology (ENT), gastroenterology, surgery, maternal fetal medicine, women’s services, orthopaedic surgery, colon and rectal surgery, and urology.

“I am pleased to become part of Bayhealth Medical Group,” said Dr. Mitch Edmondson. “We have enjoyed a long history of caring for people in our community, and look forward to practicing here for many years to come.”

Starting in January, Milford Medical Associates will be known as Bayhealth Primary Care, Milford – Airport Road.  All telephone numbers will remain the same and the office will remain at 310 Mullet Run in Milford.

Bayhealth continues to focus on increasing the number of primary care providers in Sussex County in support of the anticipated growth when the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus opens in early 2019.  “The addition of Milford Medical Associates to Bayhealth Medical Group, and subsequent recruitment of additional primary care providers to the Bayhealth Primary Care, Milford – Airport Road location, demonstrates our commitment to expanding the primary care network in southern Delaware,”said Bayhealth Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Gary Siegelman, MD, MSc. “Milford Medical Associates brings outstanding clinicians and additional expertise in the Patient Centered Medical Home model, which is being developed across all of our primary care practices.”

Drs. Mitch and Loretta Edmondson, along with Meghan Andrews, P.A.-C, will be joined full time in December by Jon Simon, MD, an internal medicine physician who completed his residency at Pinnacle Health System in Pennsylvania.

Three Milford Medical Associates physicians will no longer be providing care to the Milford community starting Jan. 1, 2018.  Mary L. Hawkins, MD, and Madhuri Sharma, MD, will each be leaving Delaware for new opportunities. Adam S. Brownstein, MD, will be leaving the group and will no longer see patients at the Mullet Run location after Jan. 1, 2018.  He will continue to practice in the Milton location.
