Mispillion River Brewing hosts walk, run to benefit Construction Angels, share Miss Utility message

MILFORD — “Know What’s Below! Call Before You Dig!” Call 8-11.

Those are the resounding words for anyone who is considering building a structure, digging a pool, or any other construction or excavation considerations.

To help to boost this message, Mispillion River Brewing is hosting the Miss Utility 8-1-1 5K, 1 Mile Non-Competitive Walk and the always fun to watch, Kiddie K. The date is Saturday Aug. 11 (Yes, it’s 8/11!) and the entire family is invited to participate and to learn more about the importance of calling 8-1-1. The Kiddie K starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:11 a.m.

Mispillion River Brewing is a member in the 2018 Craft Brewery Series and is located at 255 Mullet Run Street in Milford.

Miss Utility is a one-call notification center that alerts subscribing underground facility owner- members of your proposed excavation plans. They process requests for Marylab, Delaware, and D.C. Anyone, including home owners and excavators, planning to dig or alter the surface of the ground should call. Miss Utility is a free service — call because, it’s the law. Your call allows ample time for markings so you will be able to excavate safely without endangering the lives of you or anyone working with you.

This 8-1-1 event will start and end at the Mispillion Brewery. The run/walk flat course is USATF certified with chip timing by Nova. Advance registration entrants receive a shirt.

Mispillion River Brewing growlers and gift cards go to overall male and female winners and masters male and female winners. Medals go to the top three overall male and female finishers in 10-year age groups nine and under to 70 and over. Top three male and female walkers also receive awards. The largest team wins the Miss Utility Cup. There will be a post-race party and beer is available to those over the age of 21. Don’t forget to check out the 8-1-1 customized Corvette.

Preregistration for the run and the walk is $18.11 until August 9 and after the cost is $25. There is no charge for the Kiddie K. On the day of the event, registration will begin at 7 a.m. Go to www.races-2run.com/beach-races-2 to register and for more information.

Miss Utility of Delmarva and Mispillion River Brewing want to thank the following sponsors: Chesapeake Utilities, Comcast, Delaware Electric Cooperative, One Call Concepts, Races2Run, Tidewater Utilities, UtiliQuest and Verizon.
