Milford police officers arrested and charged 46-year-old Jorge De La Cruz June 12 with two counts of rape in the first degree, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of aggravated menacing, unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, strangulation, assault in the third degree, terroristic threatening, offensive touching and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The arrest stems from sexual assaults and other offenses that occurred at a residence located within the 900 block of SE 2nd St. on June 10 and 11.

An investigation revealed that Cruz attempted to hit the 34-year-old female victim on the morning of June 10 with an iron during a verbal dispute. That evening, Cruz was involved in another verbal dispute with the female victim when he pushed her out of the chair she was sitting in, knocking her to the floor.

He then grabbed a knife and pulled the female victim into the bathroom and held her at knife point not allowing her to leave the bathroom. Cruz then threatened to kill the female victim and her family members.

One of two children in the residence at the time attempted to make contact with the female victim through the bathroom door. Cruz then exited the bathroom and took the child to bed. Cruz later came back to the bathroom, grabbed the female victim around her neck and began to strangle her. Cruz stopped when the second child came near the bathroom door.

Hours later, on the morning of June 11, Cruz forced the female victim to perform sexual acts. Cruz later forcefully sexually assaulted the female victim. The female victim suffered minor injuries during the incidents and was treated at a local hospital and later released.

Cruz was arraigned and committed to SCI in default of $29,400.00 secured bond.
