Scholarships awarded by SCRWC

The Sussex County Republican Women’s Club (SCRWC) presented $4,000 in scholarships to five local county women recently. The scholarships are offered in memory of Lillian Martin, who in 1952, founded SCRWC, and served as the first president of the Delaware Federation of Republican Women (DFRW). The five recipients were among 24 young women who submitted applications for consideration by the scholarship committee. The five recipients, pictured from left, are Sydney Smyk of Milton, who attends the University of Delaware; Veronica Townsend of Dagsboro, who attends Elon University School of Law; Samantha Mumford of Millsboro, who plans to attend Salisbury University this fall; Hayley McCabe of Millsboro, who plans to attend James Madison University this fall; and Hayden Shockley of Milford, who plans to attend Montclair State University this fall. The mission of SCRWC is to support Republican candidates, advocate for Republican Party principles, and empower women to become involved in the political process of our country.
