Students rank in Odyssey of the Mind event

MILFORD – The Milford High School Odyssey of the Mind team earned 7th place last week in the 2018 World Finals competition at Iowa State University after competing with teams from the United States, as well as from other countries, like Poland, China, Mexico, and Singapore. Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition which requires teams to choose a problem and develop a creative solution and performance to present at competition. This year, the Milford High School team performed in Problem 2 -Emoji: Speak for Yourself. This problem required the creation of three unique emojis engineered to transform in some way, as well as a machine designed to mechanically represent texting. The special challenge for this problem was that the performance could not use any spoken language! The team worked hard all year, earning 1st place at the Ocean Regional competition, and 2nd place at Delaware State Finals, qualifying them for the World Finals competition. In addition, the team received the Renatra Fusca award, Odyssey of the Mind’s highest honor, presented to teams who display exceptional creativity in the development of their solution. Team members include (from left to right): Delaney Dillon, Donald Pasmore, Caleb Brownstein, Coach Adam Brownstein, Bethany Pasmore, Ry’Ana Johnson, and Welinton Rosario.
