Troopers arrest man on drug charges following crash

MILTON – A single vehicle crash in Milton last night has led to the arrest of a Milton man on drug charges, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded to Gravel Hill Road east of Huff Road in Milton at approximately 10:43 p.m. March 19 following a report of a single vehicle crash.

Upon their arrival, troopers learned that 22-year-old Spencer E. Brittingham II, 22 of Milton, was operating a 1995 Mercedes Benz 420 while traveling in a southbound direction on Gravel Hill Road. Brittingham allegedly lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway. The Mercedes then left the roadway and struck a tree where it came to rest. Brittingham, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.

According to state police, troopers located a book bag containing approximately 165 grams of marijuana and $310 in suspected drug sale proceeds on the rear seat floor board of the Mercedes during an inventory search.

Brittingham was transported to Troop 4 where he was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving. He was arraigned at JP Court 3 and released on $8250.00 unsecured bail.
