Troopers probe shots fired during Magnolia party

MAGNOLIA – A party in Magnolia over the weekend ended with a fight and gun shots, according to the Delaware State Police.

Officers responded to the 400 block of West Chestnut Ridge Drive in The Village of Chestnut Ridge at approximately midnight May 1 for numerous 9-1-1 calls regarding a loud party.

When troopers arrived, the party was allegedly beginning to clear out and a large crowd began to form outside where a fight broke out.  Multiple gun shots were fired by unknown subjects at the party as troopers began approaching the fight.

Additional police agencies including Felton and Dover responded to the area for assistance and the crowd was dispersed without further incidents of gunfire or fights.  No injuries or victims of the altercation were reported and no arrests were made.

Later that afternoon, a resident in the unit block of Cider Run reported a bullet hole in their 3-year-old daughter’s bedroom.  The residents advised they heard the commotion through the night and gathered up their children before running into their basement for their own safety.  None of them were physically injured in this incident.

This incident remains under investigation at this time and the Delaware State Police is requesting any information regarding the subjects who fired the guns to contact Troop 3 Major Crimes Unit at 302-698-8434.  Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
