Driver arrested after striking vehicles at elementary school in Milford

MILFORD – After striking several vehicles on the ground of Lulu Ross Elementary School in Milford, 38-year-old Shawn Williams of Lincoln was arrested Jan. 12 by the Milford Police Department.

At approximately 7:25 a.m. Jan. 12, Milford Police received several calls of a vehicle being driven through the parking lot in a suspicious manner.  The vehicle eventually struck several vehicles as it fled school grounds, nearly striking several witnesses who attempted to get the vehicle to stop.

Further investigation revealed the black Mitsubishi Gallant was operated by Williams.  He was eventually located and taken into custody in Lincoln without incident.

Williams has been charged with three counts of reckless endangering in the secondd degree, endangering the welfare of a child, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property collision accident, reckless driving, and failure to report a collision.

Williams was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $3400 secured, along with a no contact order with the victims and Lulu Ross Elementary School.

Williams was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. He is scheduled for a bail review at the Sussex County Court of Commons Pleas Jan. 17.
