Fire kills one, injures five others

MILFORD – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire a fatal fire that occurred Sunday, May 10.

According to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio, one person was found deceased inside the burning home. The fire also caused severe damage to the home.

The Frederica Fire Company responded to the 1900 block of Reynolds Road around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday for a reported house on fire.

“Firefighters observed flames shooting from the one story house upon their arrival,” said Marshal Chionchio.

One person was found inside the house deceased and five other occupants were injured. Four of the injured were taken to Milford Memorial Hospital and released after treatment.

The other injured person was flown to Kent General Hospital and later transferred to the Crozer Medical Center in Upland, Pa.

Deputy fire marshals are conducting the investigation into the fire’s origin and cause. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.

This fire remains under investigation.
