Milford man arrested for arming himself with a machete during domestic incident

c-evarusMILFORD – On July 5, Milford Police arrested a 46-year-old Milford man stemming from a domestic dispute that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Franklin St.

According to Det. Dwight Young, Charnel Evarus was charged with aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and offensive touching.

Police learned that a 34-year-old female victim and Mr. Evarus had been involved in a verbal dispute over the phone, prior to Mr. Evarus returning to the residence. When he arrived, he and the 34-year-old female victim were involved in a further verbal dispute.

Mr. Evarus then retrieved a machete and raised it toward the female victim.

“The female victim then ran out of the residence and contacted the Milford Police. Evarus was taken into custody without incident and it was also discovered that two children, ages 6 and 7 were inside the residence during the altercation,” Det. Young said.

Mr. Evarus was arraigned and released on $9,000 unsecured bond.
