Milford man charged as sex offender living next to school

MILFORD – A Milford man was arrested and charged with failure to re-register as a sex offender and living within 500 ft of school property Saturday, Jan. 9.

The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred at a residence located in the 1000 block of N. Walnut St.

Milford police officers responded to the residence after receiving information that 33-year-old Paul E. Herman had been residing there.

Milford Police made contact with residents there and it was later discovered that Herman was hiding in the basement of the residence. Herman was located and taken into custody without incident.

It was also discovered that the residence was within 500 ft of the Milford High School.

Herman was also wanted on an active capias out of Sussex County Superior Court. Herman was arraigned and committed to SCI in default of $9,000.00 cash bond.
