Milford police apprehend suspect in Wawa robbery

MILFORD – Officials with the Milford Police Department say several tips were received moments after releasing a video and photograph of a suspect in a Wawa robbery investigation to social media platforms.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Joseph W. Prouse, Jr. from Milford, was taken into custody after police received information that Prouse  might have been in the area of the double digit block of SE Front St. Upon arriving to the area, police located the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

The Milford Police Department began investigating the robbery of Wawa, located on N. DuPont Highway in Milford Feb. 7. The investigation revealed that a white male entered the store at approximately 11:45 p.m. and presented the clerk with a note advising he had a gun and demanded U.S. currency. The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of money and fled from the store. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Once arrested, Prouse was charged with one count of robbery in the first degree. He was committed to SCI in default of $20,000 secured bond. Prouse also had active capiases out of KCCP.
