Police charge Milton woman after completion of theft investigations

MILFORD – Police charged Paula Y. Griffin, 36 of Milton, Tuesday, Nov. 22 following an investigation into a pair of incidents.

The first of the two incidents occurred Oct. 12. Griffin reportedly used a vehicle without the owners consent and failed to return it to the owner.

The second of the two incidents occurred Nov. 7. Griffin reportedly attempted to cash a pair of checks at M&T Bank in Milford.  M&T Bank staff became suspicious of the transaction and notified officers.  Further investigation into the matter determined the checks were missing from a home in Milton in an incident that was already being investigated by Milton Police.

Griffin taken into custody Nov. 22 and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle,  two counts of forgery in the second degree, theft by false pretense, attempted theft by false pretense and receiving stolen property.

She was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $3,000 unsecured. Griffin is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas Dec. 19 for an arraignment on the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge and in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas Dec. 2 for a preliminary hearing for the additional charges.
