State police detectives conducting a death investigation, Felton

FELTON — The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently conducting an investigation into the suspicious death of a 48-year-old male near Felton.

According to Public Information Officer Master Corporal Gary Fournier, troopers were called to the 1000 block of Cabin Ridge Road west of Felton around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, for a check on the welfare of a male subject that lives there.

“A friend of the male was concerned for his well-being after he had not been heard from since the previous day. Upon entering the house, the 48-year-old male was found dead in the living room from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso,” Cpl. Fournier said.

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science was contacted and removed the male from the scene. An autopsy is expected to be conducted within the next couple of days to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The investigation is currently in its early stages and more information will be released when it is received.
