State Police Detectives conducting homicide investigation near Felton

FELTON – Delaware State Police are investigating the apparent murder of Douglas M. Kimball Jr., 48, of Felton; he was found by troopers on Sunday, Sept. 6.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, Delaware State Police investigators released that the 48-year-old man’s death was ruled as a homicide.

“Troopers were called to the 1000 block of Cabin Ridge Road west of Felton around 10:45 p.m. Sunday September 6, 2015 for a check on the welfare of a male subject that lives there.  Some friends of the male were concerned for his well-being after he had not been heard from since the previous day. Upon entering the house, the 48-year-old male was found dead in the living room from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso,” said Public Information Officer Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science was contacted and removed Mr. Kimball from the scene and upon conducting an autopsy, determined the cause and manner of death to be homicide by multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Detectives are continuing their investigation by conducting interviews and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.  Additional information and investigative details will be disseminated as soon as it becomes available and the investigation progresses.
