Stolen property found, six wanted subjects apprehended in Ellendale

ELLENDALE – Six suspects were apprehended Thursday morning after a resident reported a “possibly stolen” generator at his property, according to Ellendale Police Department Chief of Police Bruce E. Von Goerres.

Officers from the department went to the residence of Wayne A. Lott located at 12127 North Old State Road in Ellendale Thursday, Dec. 29 at 10:08 a.m. to follow-up on a lead regarding the generator he was using to power the same residence.

Upon arrival at the residence, four subjects ran out of the residence on foot and fled. One subject, Jervontae J. Smack was apprehended at the scene.

Other units responded from the Milton Police Department, Milford Police Department, Delaware State Police and Delaware Probation and Parole to assist. The other three suspects, Tywon J. Williams, Joshua A. Wright and Dontrelle Shields, were apprehended as well after a search of the wooded area behind the residence.

Rebecca J. Davis and Jason S. Smith were taken into custody when they drove up to the residence during the investigation and it was found that they were both wanted as well.

As a result, a Troy built 6250-watts 8500 starting watts construction generator was recovered which had been stolen from a Sussex County Habitat for Humanity’s construction trailer in the Ingram Village Development of Ellendale, DE Nov. 15, according to Chief Von Goerres.

The following arrests were made as a result of the investigation:

Jervontae J. Smack, 23 12549 N. Old State Road Ellendale: Resisting Arrest,  two Sussex County Court of Common Pleas Capias bench warrants,  capias out of J.P. court 4 in Seaford  and a capias out of Rehoboth Alderman’s court for failure to appear.  Smack was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $2,000 secured bond.

Tywon J. Williams, 22 of 209 W. Seventh St. Laurel:  Resisting arrest, violation of probation, one capias out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas and one capias out of J.P. court 2.  Williams was committed to SCI in default of a secured bond.

Joshua A. Wright, 26 of 604 Mispillion Drive in Milford: Resisting arrest, two counts of violation of probation, one count of strangulation and one count of offensive touching. Wright was committed to SCI in default of a $10,000 cash bond.

Dontrelle Shields, 23 of 918 S. E. 2nd Street in Milford: Resisting arrest, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with drugs, manufactures delivers or possesses ammunition or firearms by person prohibited and a family court capias in Kent County.  Shields was Committed to SCI in default of a $24,000 secured bond.

Rebecca J. Davis, 49 of 9164 Cubbage Way in Lincoln: one Sussex County Superior Court capias for civil contempt and one Sussex County Superior Court capias for theft by false promise under $1,000. Davis was committed to SCI in default of a $200 secured bond.

Jason S. Smith, 32 of 9164 Cubbage Way in Lincoln: two Sussex County Court of Common Pleas court capias’ for failure to appear. Smith was committed to SCI in Default of a $200 secured bond.

The investigation is pending further follow-up involving burglaries and stolen property in the Ellendale area.
