Troopers investigating a serious crash near Milford

 

 

Milford Crash 2MILFORD- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious crash involving a single vehicle which struck multiple trees east of Milford.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred today at approximately 11:34 a.m. on July 20, on Cedar Beach Road (SR36) west of Mills Road (CR 205) east of Milford.

According to Sgt. Richard Bratz, Michael T. Lofland, 17, of Milford was operating a 2002 Mazda 626 westbound on Cedar Beach Road at an apparent high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a right hand curve.

He then drove off the south side of the road and side swiped a tree with the driver’s side of the vehicle and then struck another tree with the right front side of the bumper causing his vehicle to be wedged between two trees.

Michael T. Lofland, 17 of Milford, was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Milford Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and is listed in critical condition. Traffic charges are pending.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Both directions of Cedar Beach Road were closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
