Philadelphia Eagles ‘invincible’ legend to speak at Milford Freshman Expo

MILFORD — Mingling with students, faculty and families during the second annual Freshman Expo will be an “invincible” character hoping to inspire and encourage all those in attendance.

The expo at Milford High School is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28 at beginning 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. This event is open to all students in Sussex or Kent Counties interested in attending Milford High School in the 2016-17 school year.

Philadelphia Eagles legend Vincent “Invincible” Papale will start the evening off with an inspirational message about perseverance and the grit it takes to be successful in all aspects of life. His own life story was made into the movie, Invincible, in 2006.

After Mr. Papale’s message, students and parents will have the opportunity to speak with teachers, coaches and club advisors about opportunities available at Milford High School.

Students and parents will receive information in small groups regarding the new and current programs offered at Milford High School including its world class advanced placement, dual enrollment and honors program which boasts over 20 courses. Students in these programs can complete up to 30 college credits during their high school career.

Students and parents will also be able to talk to career and technical education staff about the many career pathways available including, but not limited to, allied health, computer science, construction technology, visual and performing arts, business, accounting and marketing, and animal science.

Coaches and club advisors will be on hand to discuss the many extracurricular opportunities available. From the two-time state champion wrestling team to the defending Henlopen South boys’ and girls’ basketball teams to the returning state champion tennis team, Milford High School competes at a high level across the state.

Members of the music, theater, and art department will be available to explain the wonderful opportunities in the Arts at MHS. Drama club students will also present a scene from the upcoming musical The Music Man.

Light refreshments will be provided in the cafeteria.
