Bucs’ lacrosse heads into spring break with 3-0 record

MILFORD – With Thursday night’s 13-9 victory over Delmar, the Milford High varsity boys’ lacrosse squad improves to 3-0 on the season.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the Bucs’ fast start is the offensive contributions from the team’s freshmen and sophomores.

In the team’s latest victory, freshman Matthew Hague, sophomores Conor Christie and Alex Herka and junior Jonathan Gaglione each recorded hat tricks (three goals). Freshman Corey Messick also recorded his first career high school goal in the win.

Senior goalkeeper Shane Gaglione recorded 16 saves against the Wildcats’ offensive attack and freshman Bryce Wells finished 20-for-25 in face-offs.

On the season, Herka is leading the Bucs in scoring with a team-high 12 goals and four assists. Jonathan Gaglione adds 11 goals and one assist for the Bucs.

In goal, Shane Gaglione has racked up 49 saves in his three games.

With all three of Milford’s early-season wins coming against Henlopen South opponents, the team has already made great strides in achieving one of its 2018 goals: another Henlopen South title.

As spring break arrives, the Bucs won’t be on the field again until they face Indian River (1-1) at home Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
