Lake Forest scoreboard: Spartans open football season with 14-12 loss

WILMINGTON – Ja-Juan Reid ran for a touchdown and caught another but two missed conversions made the difference as the Lake Forest High football team lost 14-12 to Wilmington Friends School in Saturday’s season opener.

Reid had a nine-yard rushing touchdown and caught a 64-yard pass from quarterback Shyron Salandy for another score to give Lake a 12-0 lead before the Quakers scored 14 unanswered points.

Next, Lake will hold its home-opener against Tatnall this Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

Field hockey

The Lady Spartans are set to host Delmar High Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. to open the 2018 regular season schedule.

Boys soccer

Lake has gotten off to a nice start to the 2018 season, picking up a 3-1 win over Dickinson and a 9-0 shutout of Design-Lab DE.

The boys will host Sussex Academy 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.

Girls volleyball

The volleyball squad picked up its first win in Friday’s season-opener, defeating Sussex Academy 3-1.

Next for the girls is a 4 p.m. tip-off at home against Howard HS of Tech Tuesday, Sept. 11.
