Milford High set to begin 2018 fall sports season Friday night

MILFORD – The long-awaited 2018 fall sports season in Delaware is set to get underway this evening as the Milford High varsity football team plays host to Sussex Tech at Briggs Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. barring any potential weather delays.

The remaining fall sports will begin their regular season schedule early next week.

Boys’ soccer

After missing the 2017 DIAA state tournament, the Milford High soccer squad will begin its journey back to the state tourney next week.

The squad is seeking its third tourney appearance in the past four years as they kick off the season with a tough road match-up at Caesar Rodney High Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Cross country

Head coach Bob Spath’s cross country squad has its first meet of the season Wednesday, Sept. 12 with a tri-meet against Smyrna and Caesar Rodney. It’s set to begin around 4 p.m. at Brecknock Park in Camden.

Field hockey

Head coach Andrea McPike and her Lady Bucs field hockey squad will begin the regular season with a home match-up against Polytech Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m.

The football squad will kick-off its quest to return to the state title game when it kicks off against Sussex Tech Friday, Sept. 7.

During halftime of the Henlopen Conference showdown Friday night, the 2008 football state championship team will be inducted into the 12th Man Gridiron Club Hall of Fame. There will likely be 30+ members of that ’08 team in attendance for the ceremony.

Head coach Heather Motter and her volleyball squad will begin its season at home against Sussex Tech High Monday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m.
